Dr (MD) Elisabeth Schieffer

Dr Elisabeth Schieffer is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology at the Department of Cardiology, Angiology, and Internal Intensive Care Medicine at the University Hospital of Giessen and Marburg (UKGM) in Marburg, Germany. Dr Schieffer leads the "Clinical Analyses of Immunological and Metabolic Factors in ME/CFS (MIRACLE)" research network, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). MIRACLE investigates immunological, inflammatory, and metabolic signaling pathways in ME/CFS. In particular, various processes of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and the role of granulocytes are being examined und this joint project. The long-term goal of the study is to uncover the causes of ME/CFS and to identify clusters and biomarkers that can be used for diagnosis and therapy.
