Prävalenz und gesellschaftliche Kosten von Long COVID und ME/CFS in Deutschland: Ergebnisse einer neuen Datenmodellierung
Joerg Heydecke is the founder and managing director of the non-profit ME/CFS Research Foundation. The former management consultant and entrepreneur is the relative of an ME/CFS patient. Heydecke established the Foundation in 2022 to promote biomedical research into ME/CFS and Long COVID. The ME/CFS Research Foundation funds research projects (to date, for example, at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the MRI Chronic Fatigue Center for Young People in Munich). It provides networking opportunities for researchers (for example with the International ME/CFS Conference 2025 and the ME/CFS Symposium 2025) and informs people living with ME/CFS, their carers, and the public about current developments in ME/CFS research, including through the ME/CFS Research Register – a data depository on research projects, working groups, and supplementary information that currently covers ME/CFS research in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Together with patient organisations, the Foundation also advocates for increasing public funding for ME/CFS research.
