Prof Jürgen Steinacker is the managing executive board member of the Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine Research at the University Clinic Ulm in Germany. Prof Steinacker is a specialist in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Sports Medicine, and Rehabilitation Medicine. His research focusses on effects of training and rehabilitation in patients, molecular biology of skeletal muscle, chronic inflammation in training and chronic diseases. Prof Steinacker's current research covers rehabilitation in cardiology, hemato-oncology and obesity, sports cardiology and Long COVID/post-COVID syndrome. Via the University Clinic Ulm, he has been involved with the EPILOC study, under which a state-wide clinical care and research infrastructure has been established to investigate the occurence and characteristics of Long COVID/post-COVID syndrom in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The EPILOC study gained data from 12000 surveyees and recently concluded its last and fourth phase.
