Prof Wolfrahm Döhner is the head of the "Interdiscplinary Stroke Research Group" at the Center for Stroke Research Berlin (CSB) at Charité - University Medicine Berlin, Germany. Prof Döhner is a cardiologist, specialist for internal medicine and for nutritional medicine, and an associated scientist with the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Charité and the Center for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT). In his clinical work, cardiovascular expertise is linked with stroke acute therapy and rehabilitation. His research is focused on metabolic pathophysiology in chronic disease contributing to peripheral tissue wasting, muscle loss, sarcopenia and cachexia. His work on ME/CFS deals, among others, with establishing functional/metabolic profiles in patients and investigating the effect of immune modulation therapy, which is conducted in close cooperation with the Institute of Medical Immunology at Charité. Prof Döhner leads the research network "Investigations into vascular dysfunction and hypoperfusion in patients with ME/CFS (VADYS-ME)", which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
