Prof David Putrino is a physical therapist with a PhD in neuroscience and the Director of Rehabilitation Innovation for the Mount Sinai Health System. He is also a professor in the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai - New York City in the United States. Prof Putrino's research topics include cell biology, cognitive neuroscience, molecular biology, neurophysiology and neuroscience. He serves as the Nash Family Director of the newly founded Center for Recovery From Complex Chronic Illnesses (CoRE) at Mount Sinai, which will provide clinical care for patients with infection-associated complex chronic illnesses such as ME/CFS. The center is also implementing new research programs focusing on understanding and highlighting the key similarities and differences between people living with Long COVID and long Lyme disease/Lyme+, ME/CFS, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and other infection-associated complex chronic illnesses. With a grant from and in collaboration with the PolyBio Research Foundation, the Center is implementing multiple clinical trials for promising new therapies for these conditions within the framework of the LongCovid Research Consortium (LCRC), of which he is also a member.
